UCI DBF PROJECT
Designing, building, and flying RC aircraft to compete on the world stage.
Learn more about AntEATairAbout Us
Design, Build, Fly (DBF) is UC Irvine’s premier undergraduate aircraft design team. Each year, we compete in the international AIAA DBF competition by designing and building a radio-controlled aircraft from scratch. Students gain hands-on experience in aerospace design, prototyping, fabrication, and mission-based performance testing.
2024 AIAA Design Challenge
This year’s competition features three flight missions and one ground mission, each with unique payload, configuration, and performance requirements. Our aircraft is designed to fly multiple payload types and confirgurations—including empty, external fuel tanks, and X1-glider and removable pylons for loading and unloading fuel tanks.
